Who runs this

WorldMedJournal is an independent site built and maintained by one person, not a news outlet, a medical publisher, or a clinical institution — despite the name. It started as a personal project to turn a handful of published, well-established health formulas into calculators that show their work, instead of hiding the math behind a "your result is 22.4" box. The name predates the current content and is kept as a domain/brand, not a claim to be a peer-reviewed journal or an editorial organization.

The site is supported by display advertising, which is why you'll see ad slots on tool pages. That's disclosed here directly: nothing on this site is sponsored content, and no calculator's output is influenced by advertisers.

How each tool is built

Every calculator wraps a single, named, published formula or guideline — the Mifflin-St Jeor equation for resting metabolism, the US Navy circumference method for body fat, current American Heart Association categories for blood pressure, and so on. Each tool's page links to the original source and states plainly what the number does and doesn't mean. Nothing here is a proprietary "algorithm" — you could reproduce any result with the cited formula and a calculator.

When a cited guideline is updated (for example, if the AHA revises blood pressure categories, or a body composition study changes how accurate a method is judged to be), the relevant page gets updated and the "last reviewed" date at the top changes. There's no fixed review schedule — pages are revisited when something in the underlying guidance actually changes, or when a reader flags an issue (see below).

Corrections

If you're a clinician, researcher, or just someone who spotted an outdated number or a broken source link, corrections are genuinely welcome — see the contact page. This is a solo-maintained site, so mistakes happen and get fixed faster when someone points them out.

What this site doesn't do

It doesn't collect or store the numbers you type into any calculator — every calculation runs locally in your browser with plain JavaScript, and nothing you enter is sent to a server. It doesn't offer individualized medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment plans, and it doesn't ask about your specific symptoms or history the way a clinician would. It isn't affiliated with any hospital, university, or medical association, and none of the cited organizations (AHA, WHO, etc.) endorse this site — they're cited as sources for the formulas used, nothing more.

Not medical advice. This site provides general, educational information only and is not a substitute for professional medical consultation, diagnosis, or treatment. In an emergency, contact your local emergency services.
